A witness said the accident, which killed 20 people in upstate New York, “looked like an explosion.”
Linda Riley of Schenectady, New York, says she was in a car parked at the Apple Barrel Country Store in Schoharie on Saturday when she heard the noise.
She says she got off and saw a dead body on the ground next to her car, with broken tree branches everywhere.
A person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press that 18 of the victims were in a limousine and two bystanders.
Schoharie is located about 170 miles north of New York City.
