A child was killed and another child was wounded after police said that three different cars stopped next to the car they were in and fired several shots.

Memphis police said the shooting took place at the junction of Airlines and Ketchum, killing 10-year-old Richard Jordan. Another 12-year-old boy and a man were wounded in the shooting, but they survived their wounds.

At around 4:30 p.m., the police said, the victims were in a car with family and friends when three different cars stopped next to their car and several shots were fired. Police said Jordan was taken to a children’s hospital, where he died.

Suspicious vehicles fled east on Ketchum from Airlines. Police described the vehicles as a gold Chevrolet Malibu with missing axle covers, a black Chrysler 300 and a gray sedan.

So far, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
