8 wounded in a shooting in Wisconsin and the search for the perpetrator

Pensacola, fl

Eight people were wounded in a shooting near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to local police, adding that the gunman had not been arrested.

The shooting took place inside a supermarket “Mayfair Mall” in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee, the largest city in the state in the northern us, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper.

Wisconsin police said in a statement that “when the rescue teams arrived, the shooter was not present at the scene of the incident,” stressing that the danger was still present, asking residents to move away from the scene.

The ABC network quoted Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride as saying that the attacker was still “on the run.”

The authorities said that “seven adults and a minor were taken to hospital”, without being able to determine the severity of their injuries

The police declared that the shooter, whose identity has not been revealed, is “a white man in his twenties or thirties.”

Several employees took shelter inside the mall, according to videos circulating on social media showing them in hiding.

“We are grateful to the police and are cooperating with them in their investigations,” the Facebook page of the mall, which was temporarily closed, said.

There were at least 40 security forces vehicles at the site, as well as ambulances carrying many of the wounded, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

And the FBI announced on Twitter that it had also taken to the site.

“Our thoughts are with those injured in the Mayfair Mall shooting today,” Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers wrote on Twitter. “Our thoughts are also with all customers and employees who have been affected by this violent act,” he added.

And Milwaukee police wrote on Twitter that they went to the scene alongside Wawatosa police, in response to a “shooting” incident.

A shooting killed five people in February at a Milwaukee brewery.
