Authorities said a man was killed in a shooting in an unincorporated area near El Cajon.
The shooting was reported in the 6000 block from Stallion Oaks Road, southeast of Dehesa Road and northeast of Sycuan Resort, around 10:30 p.m., said Lt. Thomas Seaver, San Diego County Mayor.
Before the deputies arrived, Sever said, an acquaintance of the victim drove him about a mile and a half from where the shooting took place. Representatives parked the car on Stallion Oaks Road near Dehesa Road and found the victim in it with a gunshot wound.
The lieutenant said the victim, whose name and age were not immediately revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An administration helicopter was brought in to assist lawmakers on the ground in their search for the suspect, and residents of the area were asked to stay home.
“No suspects are believed to be stuck,” Sever said in a statement Friday morning. No further details were released immediately.
Authorities have closed Stallion Oaks Road on Dehesa Road until further notice to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.
