A 5-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in the head in Rosland on the far south side of Chicago
The boy was playing with his iPad on the sofa around 7:30 pm. Inside a house on the 200th block of West 115th Street when a car drove past and someone inside fired shots at the house, Chicago Police Cmdr. Glenn White told reporters at a news conference at the scene.
Police said the boy was rushed from the house and taken to Kumer Children’s Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
White said he was “undergoing surgery to relieve some of the pressure on the brain from the bullet wound he sustained.”
White said that no one was outside the house at the time of the shooting.
“This is another indiscriminate act of violence here in Chicago, involving a five-year-old young Chicagoan who was innocently playing in this house on his iPad,” White added. “Our hearts and our prayers go to the parents.”
No one is under arrest as Second District investigators are investigating.
