The gun violence that broke out in Chicago left more than 12 people dead, including three children.
From evening until midnight, 16 people were killed and 47 injured.
Just before 10 pm, a stray bullet pierced the window of an apartment in Logan Square and hit Lena Nunez in the head. Police believe two groups were shooting each other outside the apartment when Lina was hit by a stray bullet.
The youngest victim killed was 20-month-old Senceri Gaston, who was shot in the chest while riding in his car seat. His mother was hit by a bullet.
In another shooting, a 17-year-old was shot dead in the Humboldt Park neighborhood during a fight.
An 8-year-old girl was also injured by a bullet while sitting on the sofa inside her home in West Englewood. The girl sustained a head wound, but she survived.
Chicago was the scene of the worst gun violence of the year, with 106 people killed, including 3-year-old Michael James and 13-year-old Amarya Jones, both of whom were killed.
A newly formed group of activists and businessmen say they are tired. The group called “I Say Don’t Shoot” is now offering a $ 50,000 bounty to help find shooters in the Mekhi and Sincere cases.
