5 children killed in a collision without wearing seat belts in Maryland

A community in mourning after five children are killed in a car accident in Prince George County over the weekend. The accident happened on Route 301 in Bui in the early morning.

The young victims of the accident, identified by police over the weekend, were between 5 and 15 years old. According to Maryland State Police, none of the children were wearing seat belts.

Officials say 8-year-old London Dickson and 5-year-old sister Paris are from Bowie. Their mother, 32-year-old Dominic Taylor, was driving the car when it crashed. FOX 5 spoke with the girls’ grandparents who said they were “shattered” by the loss. At this time, there is no update on Taylor’s status. Police say Taylor’s 23-year-old boyfriend was in the passenger seat during the accident and remains in critical condition.

Bob Barnard of FOX 5 visited Northview Elementary School where Paris and London are attending the school and said grief counselors are within reach of students and families affected by the tragedy.

The other three children who were killed in the accident, identified by police are 6-year-old Rickel Rex, 14-year-old Zion Bird, and 15-year-old Damari Herald, from Washington, D.C. Their mother is Taylor’s cousin. .

Maryland State Police say the accident occurred shortly after 5 am on Saturday morning. The car veered off the road, hit a tree line, and swept into a snow-covered field.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
