A pedestrian was injured and killed on a highway in North County.
Police said a car was hit by the man on the western lanes of State Road 76 shortly before 1 a.m. The sergeant said the 2005 Lexus was heading west on State Road 76 east of Old Grove. Rick Davis of Oceanside Police Department.
“The driver did not see the pedestrians until the last moment because of the darkness and collided with pedestrians,” Davis said.
The sergeant said the driver stopped in the middle of the broker and waited for the police.
“Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this driver collision,” Davis said. “It is not known (if) the pedestrian was under the influence of any substance at this time.”
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.
