Metro Police said a four-month-old boy died in a crash along Bell Road early this morning in Nashville.
Christ Hensley was killed when the car in which he was traveling collided with a rocky wall on Bell Road near Coacheville Pike around 1:50 in the morning.
The boy’s father told the police that a deer had crossed, causing him to leave the road. Police said there is no evidence that deer was involved at the scene.
When they went to take the father out, the Nashville fire department crews said, he was in the driver’s seat and the kid on his lap. Police say the father told the officers his child was in a safety seat when it crashed. Officers said they found the car seat unlocked.
Police say the results of an autopsy will accurately determine the child’s injuries.
The 21-year-old father was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said there was no indication that alcohol or drugs had been involved at the scene, “and there was no evidence of deer presence.”
The investigation will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether or not charges will be brought.
