A 71-year-old Illinois woman faces animal cruelty charges for killing one and four kittens to punish her grandchildren for not cleaning their rooms.

Josephine E. Belle is captured from Godfrey town in southwestern Illinois. She remained in jail instead of a $ 15,000 bond. It was not immediately known if Bell had legal representation who could comment on the allegations.

A teenage resident said she found a dead cat in the family’s refrigerator. Madison County Deputy Mayor Bill told she killed the five felines with a hammer after she had previously warned her grandchildren to take better care of their pets.

The four dead cats were reportedly thrown away and not found.
