A man was killed in a single car crash on Commonwealth Street near Jones Street, the Jacksonville Police Office said.
Police said that, just before 6:40 p.m., a car veered off the road and hit a street lamp.
Police said the man who was driving the car died at the scene. According to the sheriff’s office, he was the only person in the car.
The sheriff’s office said that many homes and businesses in the area were without electricity and JEA was contacted.Commonwealth Street between Jones Road and Bulls Bay Expressway was closed after the accident
