Baltimore authorities have arrested and charged a 14-year-old suspect with the rape and murder of an elderly woman.
Tyrone Harvin was charged as an adult with murder and rape in the first degree. In Maryland, minor suspects age 14 or older can be charged as adults for such major crimes.
He is being held without bail. Last month, he murdered 83-year-old Dorothy May Neal at her home in West Baltimore. It was not immediately clear if the teenage suspect had a lawyer.
Police spokesman T. Smith described the case on Friday as “a very tragic situation along the way.” He says Harvin just turned 14. He lives on the same street as the old woman.
Police allege that physical evidence found at the scene links Harvin to the murder and sexual assault.
