Pregnant woman, her baby is expected to survive the Kensington shooting

Pensacola, Fl

A pregnant woman and her baby are expected to survive after police said the woman was shot while standing at the entrance to a house in Kensington.

According to police, a nine-month-pregnant woman was shot in the stomach on 1800 Street of East Atlantic Avenue around 7:30 pm. She was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

Police say the 39-year-old underwent an emergency caesarean section to give birth. According to the authorities, the woman and the child are expected to survive.

Investigators believe the woman may have been hit by a stray bullet.

“At this time we can’t find any ballistic evidence. We don’t have a description of the shooter or the shooters. The family didn’t see anyone shooting. They just heard the bullets, so it is possible they were hit,” said Scott Small, chief inspector of Philadelphia Police.

There were no reports of arrests, and no weapon was found. The investigation is underway.
