Police said they were called to the store at 173 Willow Street
At 22:57 PM, the police, fire department, and ambulance were called to the shop at 173 Willow Street to report that someone had been shot.
Officers found a 45-year-old man lying on the ground inside the store with a gunshot wound in the abdomen. Police said he lost consciousness but was breathing. He was treated on the scene and taken to Waterbury Hospital, where he died at 3:25 am.
The police were informed that right before the shooting, several people were in the store and had a loud argument when several shots were fired inside the store. After the shooting, everyone left the shop except for the victim, who fell to the ground after being shot.
Police were informed of the shooting of a second man, 33, who left the store before the police arrived. Police located the man lying on the street at 56 Ridgewood Street. He was shot in the stomach and the right arm.
The man was taken to Waterbury Hospital where his injuries were determined not to be life threatening. He is still in the hospital.
Investigators and the crime scene unit in the forensic department responded to assist with this investigation.
The identity of the victim is awaiting confirmation by the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner office and notification of the next of kin. OCME will determine the method and cause of death.
