The police summoned the Wendy Hill neighborhood by a man walking with his dog, and found a plastic container lying in a storage pond. Inside, the police found a naked man with a gunshot wound.
A Jacksonville homicide investigator said the dive team recovered a gray storage container from the pond on Dalry Drive, East Southside Boulevard, and just one block from Windy Hill Elementary School. The age of the victim inside was estimated to be between 30-40 years.
Sgt. Steve Rudolph said it appeared the man had been shot elsewhere and that the container had been thrown at that location within the past 24-36 hours. The medical examiner tries to identify the victim and the Shared Services office also checks missing persons records.
The pool is located on Jacksonville town land and adjacent to the Windy Hill Community Center.
The found man who called the police walks his dog there multiple times every day.
This morning I came here and saw a box floating in the water there and said, ‘What is this?’ Tim Anderson said, ‘Let me go and look and see. “I kind of hoped it wasn’t what I thought and it turned out to be. I thought maybe it was a doll or something stuck in there because some kids were playing or something, but I came up and said,” Oh, that sounds so real to me. “.
