Pensacola, Fl
A man was killed and two officers were on administrative leave after a late-night shooting.
Assistant Head Office of Jacksonville Sheriff, T.K. Waters said two officers, G.A Taylor and M.L Mullis, were parked on East 63rd Street waiting for investigators to join them in a local gang investigation shortly after 10 p.m.
While the officers were in their cars, a man approached a car from the side of the front passenger carrying a rifle. Police said he hit the car with the butt of the rifle and then aimed it at the officers.
Two officers got out and fired several shots. Police said they provided first aid to the man. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
Waters said the man has not been identified.
Officer Taylor and Officer Mullis have been with the JSO for three and four years, respectively. This was the first shooting the officer was involved in.
