Police said that one man was killed and another wounded after a car hit them and hit a tree in the university village.
Chicago Police said someone in the car ran from the scene and crossed a highway, but was later arrested on public transport.
Police said the accident happened at around 10:25 a.m. at 1100 South Morgan Street.
Police said the driver was traveling north at Morgan and detonated a stop sign and hit the two men before hitting a tree. Police said a 26-year-old man died in Struger Hospital, while a 27-year-old went to the same hospital in good condition with a shoulder injury.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not disclose details of the death.
Police said they had arrested a 32-year-old man who fled the wrecked car. No charges were filed.
