18-year-old man was killed in ‘meaningless’ shootout

Pensacola, Fl

Authorities have identified an 18-year-old man who died in a shootout between two groups outside a Northwest Side pub over the weekend.

According to investigators, Gillan Alexander Richardson was killed when two groups of young men opened fire on each other as they left The Well early.

San Antonio Police say Richardson died at the scene. Four others were injured, including two young men, aged 18, 19, and 22. All of them were taken to hospitals for treatment.

At the scene, SAPD chief William McManus described the shooting as “meaningless”. He added that it was not clear why the groups started shooting at each other. Two cars were hit with bullet holes.

We checked with the Texas Alcoholic Beverages Commission who confirmed that they are investigating the accident, along with SAPD. When an agency spokesperson was asked about the victims’ ages, he said that anyone could enter a bar in Texas, but that alcohol could not be served to them if they were under the age of 18.

The spokesperson also said The Well is a restaurant / bar.
