Delaware County Attorney, Jack Stolstheimer, announced that a 19-year-old man from Philadelphia is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, filming the attack and posting a video of him on Instagram.
Abraham Johnson of West Philadelphia is facing charges of rape, filming of sexual acts with a child, and related crimes, according to court records. He was held in Delaware County Jail after bail was set at $ 250,000.
According to Stollsteimer, investigators began investigating the case, when someone reported that the girl had sex with a teenage man, and that “a video of the abuse was posted on Instagram and shared with the child’s mother and two brothers.”
The prosecutor said that Detective Stephen Bannar interviewed the girl, her mother, and her father, who provided the man’s name. The victim later identified Johnson from a photo op.
Officials did not say whether Johnson knew the victim, how they knew him, or when police believed the rape occurred. Johnson refused to speak with investigators when they approached him at his home in West Philadelphia on Monday, according to an affidavit of the possible reason for his arrest.
Johnson did not have an attorney listed in the court documents. Court records showed that he was arrested twice in Philadelphia this spring, facing charges in those cases for forgery, theft, car theft and related crimes.
In a statement, Stolstimer described the rape case as “heartbreaking” and “deeply disturbing”. Although the number of reported child abuse cases has decreased during the pandemic, Stollsteimer urged people to remain vigilant about reporting them, warning that the decrease in cases may be the result of having fewer teachers, nurses or other caregivers. Them and report problems.
