Two men were killed after a car speeded off after an attempted traffic pass by law enforcement and lost control of the vehicle, according to a press release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
FCSO says the accident occurred after an anti-drug investigator was halting a traffic stop on an I-10 at the 672-mile marker bound west on a car that was reported stolen from San Antonio.
After the detective activated his lights, the car stopped and then set off and attempted to overtake 18 wheels on the emergency shoulder, leaving the road later losing control as the car rolled several times into the grass shoulder and eventually stopped on the service road near the 667 mile mark.
FCSO goes on to say that both passengers were kicked out of the car and found dead.
The Department of Public Safety, the Flatunya Police Department, and the Fayette County EMS assisted at the scene.
The identity of the two men has yet to be determined by law enforcement.
