Police there said a woman who left her job in Kansas City found the body of a man shot dead in an alley near Paseo.
The man’s body was in a secluded dark alley near Woodland Street and The Paseo when the woman spotted him around 7 in the morning.
The Kansas City Star reported. Police did not release the identity of the victim by morning.
Police are investigating whether the death was related to a report of shooting in the same area around three o’clock Wednesday morning. Police said the officers responded but found no victims. The police did not indicate the presence of any suspects in the shooting, and no arrests were made.
The crime is the 159th murder in Kansas City this year, according to data maintained by The Star. That compares to 125 murders reported at the same time in 2019. Kansas City broke the record for homicides in one year last week with 156 deaths.
