A man was killed and a woman was hospitalized after a shooting in Oakland Park.
Broward Sheriff’s office representatives and Oakland Park Fire Rescue crew responded to the scene along Northwest 44th Street and 31st Avenue at around 3:23 am.
“The shots were like a Gatling rifle,” said witness Greg Butler. “It was like, boom, boom, boom, boom.”
Representatives responding were able to locate a dead woman and a woman with a gunshot wound.
The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Heraldo Martin from Lauderdale Lakes.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and she is expected to be well.
“What we do know is that several rounds have been launched,” BSO spokesperson Carrie Codd said. They also found an adult woman in the car who had been hit by several bullets.
Investigators said the victims were heading east at 44th Street when another car stopped and opened fire.
“It seems that the suspicious car continued chasing the victims ‘car and continued shooting at the victims’ car,” Code said.
The 7SkyForce HD flew over the scene where evidence marks could be seen on the ground.
Witness Tyrone Bowes said, “I heard gunshots.” “He started from this road and back this way, and the car ended up here.”
The blinded white Nissan can also be seen with its wipers and hazard lights, and one of its tires appeared flat.
Bullet holes can be seen on the driver’s side door.
A number of people broke into a petrol station near the scene of the accident, unable to return to their homes.
A nearby resident said, “My daughter hears this, because I am going to sleep, tired, and I don’t hear anything.”
The BSO continues to search for motive as they search for surveillance and witnesses.
