The search for answers continues after a wrong gun crash on an Oklahoma freeway killed four people, including two children from Vista.

The burning grass and the scattered crayons mark where the soldiers say 33-year-old Ashley Rex collided with the victims’ car near El Reno. The accident kills Zach and Lily Humant, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Their mother, Laura Jones and their grandmother, Carol Jones Hickman, also killed their GoFundMe family page.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol now wants to know its location in the hours leading up to the accident. OHP officials say alcohol may be the culprit.

“At least, she was going in the wrong direction for nine miles,” said Major Ronnie Hampton of OHP. “He was doing it with what witnesses described at a very high rate of speed.”

Then there was a head-on collision. According to the authorities, the collision pushed Rex into a ditch on the side of the highway while the other car dashed into the middle, burst into flames and trapped the four passengers inside.

“He was completely inundated on arrival,” said Jonathan Stahorn of El Reno Fire Department. “That was a very bad wreck.”

Authorities said only Rex survived. He is reported to be in stable condition in hospital.

OHP is looking for information about where it might have been before the plane wreck.

“You have a family that is just trying to walk an interstate road from one part of the country to another, and here we have someone who has gone in the wrong direction,” said Hampton.
