Two men die in a scooter collision at Pompano Beach


Pensacola, Florida

Broward Sheriff’s office is investigating a jogging scooter collision that killed two men at Pompano Beach.

The accident occurred near West Macnab Road along the northern lanes of the Dixie Highway, just before sunrise.

According to investigators, the victims, who were in their 40s or 50s, were riding a motorcycle when they were hit by a silver Toyota Camry that was traveling at very high speed.

Then the Camry driver fled the scene.

The deputies responded to the scene at about 6:45 a.m. and found the victims in the lanes heading north. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mobile phone footage sent by a 7News model showed debris strewn across the road, with the scooter torn apart.

Representatives sealed off the area while investigating the incident.

After receiving advice, investigators were able to locate the damaged front-end camera.

According to a resident who lives near the house where the car was found, the authorities have arrested one.
