Helena-West Helena Police are investigating a shooting that killed a boy.
The officers responded at around 10:15 p.m. To the N. 2nd Streets and East Baldwin Avenue to a woman speeding down the wrong side of the street, President James Smith said.
When officers got to the car, they noticed a 9-year-old boy with gunshot wounds in the car, according to the manager.
The boy was taken from the car to a hospital in the area, where he died of his wounds, according to a statement.
The woman told the officers that she had a fight with her boyfriend, Hector Lopez, 23, then hit her in the head with a pistol in the 400th block of N Street.
She tried to leave the house with her son and the 9-year-old boy, who her nephew was visiting from outside town.
