The officers responded to a call that was shot around 7:20 p.m. Police found the man shot in the right arm in the 800th block of North Affairs Street, police said.
The man was taken to Mt. Police said Sinai Hospital was in good condition.
Two people were injured in separate gunfire at the same time, one near the Campus Museum and the other in West Town.
At around 6:45 p.m., a 24-year-old man was in a car at the 1500 South Lake Shore Drive complex when he was hit in the leg by someone in another vehicle, police said.
Police said he was transferred to Al-Rahma Hospital in good condition.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was walking to his car at around 2100 from West Randolph Street when a person in a dark-colored car passed by and fired shots.

Thirty minutes ago, a man was shot in South Shore.
At around 6:15 p.m., police said, he was at the 7000 block from South Shore Drive when someone opened fire.
Police said the 25-year-old was injured in the stomach and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
A man was injured in a shooting at Woodlawn on the south side.
Police said the 26-year-old was around 4:40 p.m. at 6200 Block of South Eberhart Street when he was shot in the leg.
Police said he was taken to hospital in good condition.
Minutes earlier, two men were shot in West Englewood on the south side.
They were on the sidewalk around 4:26 PM. Police said at 7100 from South Sealy Street when the gunfire rang out.
Police said a 30-year-old was shot in the arms and taken to Crest Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other man, 18, was shot in the stomach and arm, and was taken to the same hospital. Both are in serious condition.
Police said officers found a pistol at the scene.
Three employees, one of them critically, were wounded in a shooting at a Chicago Housing Authority maintenance building near the West Side.
Police said they were working at the back of the building, located at 1,300 Block on South Loomis Street, when someone pulled over at 8am in a BMW and opened fire.
Police said a man was shot four times and was taken to Struger Hospital in critical condition. The 56-year-old was shot in the shoulder, back, stomach and buttocks.
Police said another 46-year-old man was taken to the same hospital in good condition, with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. The third man, 31, went to the Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition with gunshot wounds in the legs.
A 32-year-old man was shot at Hegewisch on the far south side.
Police said he was driving at around 6:05 a.m. at Building 13200 on South Torrence Street, when someone shot him from a passing car.
Police said he was injured in the torso and in the right hand and taken to Crest Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment. His condition is unknown.
