A man is killed and a 13-year-old girl is injured by a shooting in Humboldt Park

Pensacola, Fl

Police said a gunfire killed a man and injured a 13-year-old girl in Humboldt Park on the west side.

They were standing on the balcony around 4:45 PM. Chicago Police said in Building 900 of North Lawndale Street when a red car drove past and someone inside fired shots.

Police said Mahogany Walker was hit in the chest and taken to Struger Hospital in critical condition.

Mahogany’s father, Irvine Wheaton, said, “My child is fine, thank God.”

However, he does have a message to the shooter.

“I feel sorry for you, man. There’s something wrong with your head,” Wheaton said.

Police said that the 23-year-old man was hit by a bullet in the armpit and chin. He was transferred to the same hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not disclose details of the death.

Reverend Donavan Price says the two victims were brothers.

“The young man is dead.” He said, “It’s terrible, terrible for her to deal with that.”

Price says that on Tuesday night, about seven people were shot in Chicago in less than three hours.

“There are mothers crying everywhere.” He said, “There is a child who is struggling for her life now.”

Fourth District investigators are investigating.
