A 35-year-old pregnant woman is found shot dead early in the morning in Geoffrey Manor on the south side. Doctors at the University of Chicago Medical Center have delivered her baby, who remains in critical condition, according to Chicago Police.
At approximately 12:06 a.m., officers who heeded the ShotSpotter warning at 2100 block of East 95th Place found the woman lying on a balcony, unresponsive, with a bullet in the back, Chicago police said.
Police said she was taken to hospital in critical condition, but she died at a later time. The woman was eight months pregnant and the doctors were able to deliver her baby, who remains in critical condition, at Komer Children’s Hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner Office has not released the woman’s name yet.
No one is under arrest as Second District investigators are investigating.
