A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured during a shooting outside Lake Shore Drive on Sunday afternoon, according to police and photos posted on social media.
The accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. Chicago Police are in the 300th Square of South Lake Shore Drive.
Officials said the woman was in a white Dodge Caliber heading north on Lake Shore Drive in Jackson when another car pulled over as it pulled over. Police stated that “some kind of conversation happened after that” between the two, which resulted in someone in the back of the other vehicle shooting a Dodge Caliber.
The woman’s car drove north on Lake Shore Drive, stopped and exited Building 600 on East Grand Avenue where the police were called.
Police initially said the shooting occurred at Building 600 of East Grand Avenue, a dock in Chicago, but that it was later updated with the new location.
After arriving at the scene, officers reported that the woman was shot in the head and was treated with a first aid package. The 19-year-old was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Police said northbound traffic on Lake Shore Drive in Balboa and Randolph was temporarily closed during the investigation of the accident.
The police stated that an important person had been arrested, but it became clear later that he had nothing to do with this shooting.
