A man died after a crash on Old Hickory Blvd at Logistics Way during a downpour on Saturday.
Police say 36-year-old Robert Weaver from Nashville was driving a 2009 Honda Fit south on Old Hickory Boulevard while it was raining, when his car started flying in the water and eventually crossed into oncoming traffic.
Then the Honda Fit collided with a northern Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Weaver was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The truck driver, wearing a seat belt, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene. The initial cause of the accident appears to be that Weaver is driving too fast for road and weather conditions.
