A two-year-old girl sitting on the driver’s lap has died in a rollover accident in western Minnesota.
The accident occurred around 7 pm. At 225th Avenue Southwest near County State-Aid Highway 5.
According to the Kandhihi County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, a 23-year-old woman from Clara City, was driving west at 225th Avenue Southwest with a 2-year-old girl sitting in her lap. The driver lost control of the car because of the “loose” gravel and it rolled into the ditch on the north side of the road.
The driver was wearing a seat belt, and neither she nor the child were taken out of the car in the accident.
The two-year-old was airlifted from the scene, but died on the way to a hospital in the Twin Cities metro. The driver was taken in an ambulance to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
