Montgomery County officials say a father was arrested and charged after he sexually assaulted his daughter, who later died in hospital.
Officers say 10-month-old Zara Skrges was unresponsive at home.
According to the authorities, an autopsy showed that Scrogos had been sexually assaulted and suffered severe trauma to her head.
Investigators say Austin Stevens’ phone showed multiple Google searches for about an hour before calling 911 with topics including “If the baby stops breathing,” “what if you don’t hear the baby’s heart or beat,” “my baby isn’t breathing,” and “how.” Do you know the death of a child? ”
This issue is very worrying. “It’s hard to imagine that this child’s death became more traumatic: the sexual abuse of the infant, then the father’s failure to act to save her life, led to her death,” said Kevin Steele, Montgomery County Attorney General.
Stevens has been charged with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, child rape, aggravated assault, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the child’s well-being, and related charges.
