Authorities said the minivan driver may have been disabled at the time of an accident outside Phoenix that killed two children who were traveling with their family in a truck.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said the driver was airlifted to a hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. Northwest Wickenburg.
The driver’s age and gender have not been released by the authorities.
DPS officials said the crash occurred on the US 93 when the truck crossed the planned central line and collided with the axle of a semi-trailer drawn by a commercial truck.
After the collision, DPS said the truck had collided with the truck that was carrying a family of seven.
Two children under the age of ten died at the scene while the five surviving family members were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to the Refugee Protection Directorate.
The names, ages, and townships of the children who died have yet to be announced.
