Police in Maryland said that 14-year-old Tyrone Harvin will be prosecuted after he was accused of raping and killing an elderly woman named Dorothy May Neal, (83).
The police spokesman said that laws in Maryland allow Harvin to be tried as an adult even though he is not more than 14 years old.
He accused Harvin of sexually assaulting Neill, before he beat her until she passed out. Neil was taken to the hospital, and despite the doctors’ attempts to save her, it was too late and the news of her death was announced.
Smith was surprised at Harvin’s commission of such a crime, stressing that he would not have heard of such crimes before.
Smith said that the police believed that a strong young man had done this, it had not come to our mind that the perpetrator of such a heinous crime was a child.
Harvin was charged with first-degree murder and rape, in addition to many other crimes.
