Two drivers were killed in separate accidents in Nashville at the weekend.
At about 12:20 a.m., a Florida woman was killed in a single car crash on East Thompson Road near Wembole Road.
Metro Police say Rachel Kaplan, from Pinellas Park, Florida, was traveling north at high speed when she apparently lost control of the car when it was crossing a bridge over Mill Creek. She ended up hitting the concrete bridge wall.
MNPD says Kaplan, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
Just 30 minutes later at 12:50 a.m., another driver was killed in a single car crash on northbound-bound I-65.
The driver has been initially identified as Franklin’s Man, but the medical examiner’s office still confirms the identity.
Metro police say the man was driving a Mazda CX-5 along I-65 heading north in Madison when he got off the road and ran into a concrete block used to mount signage between states. The car quickly caught fire. The driver died at the scene of the accident.
