Trump leaves the White House for Walter Reed Military Medical Center

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for the Coronavirus,

White House officials said Trump was being transferred from the White House to Walter Reed Military Medical Center.

The news of the president’s hospitalization came hours after media reported that Hope Hicks, one of Trump’s closest aides, had tested positive for the virus.

Several media outlets reported that Mike Pence remained at his Maritime Observatory on Friday evening, the official residence of the Vice President. Pence remained in office as President Donald Trump prepared to ride Marine One to head to Walter Reed Military Medical Center for a few days.

White House official Alyssa Farah said power had not passed on to Vice President Pence.

“The president is responsible,” she said, adding that she was not aware of any additional cases of coronavirus.
