One person was killed and five others were injured in armed violence across Chicago.
A fatal shooting killed a man and injured another in West Garfield Park on the West Side.
They were driving north around 9:50 pm. Chicago Police said one of them shot them in District 200 of North Pulaski Road. Both were shot in the chest, and their car crashed into a building. The two men were taken to Struger Hospital, where one of them died. The other man, 36, is in critical condition.
The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred about five minutes ago in West Pullman, in the far south.
A 22-year-old man was working in a fast food restaurant around 9:45 PM. Police said at 11,600 Block South Halstead Street when another employee accidentally fired the rifle. He was taken to Crest Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition with a bullet in the leg. Investigators are questioning the employee who shot, but no charges have been brought
Earlier that afternoon, another man was injured in Lundell on the West Side.
There was a 19-year-old guy on the street around 4:05 PM. On 1200 South Keeler Street when a person opened fire from a dark-colored vehicle, police said. He was hit by a bullet in the arms and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
The first shooting of the day injured two men in pedestrians in West Garfield Park.
They were on the sidewalk around 3:35 pm. Police said at 3,800 West Gladys Street when someone drove past a Kia and opened fire. A 23-year-old man was injured by several bullets and taken to Struger Hospital in critical condition. The other man, 24, was injured in his finger and was taken to the same hospital in good condition.
