Police say the 16-year-old died after the shooting in North Austin

Pensacola, Fl

Austin Police have identified a 16-year-old boy who died in a shooting in North Austin.

Police were called to the Walgreens store parking lot at 12601 Tech Ridge Boulevard around 8:40 PM. And found Luke Kimber shot. Austin Travis County moved EMS Quimper to the University of Texas Del Seaton Medical Center, and he was pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m., police say.

However, APD said the actual shooting occurred at the 12300 block of Yarmont Road in a neighborhood, about a mile and a half from Walgreens.

An APD press release states that the group of friends with Kemper at the time of the shooting gave the officers false information about the circumstances that led to the shooting, which appeared to be a murder.

Police said another group of Kemper’s friends gave the police information about what happened, and investigators were looking for other witnesses to find out how it all happened.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say preliminary information indicates that the accident may be related to “buying a small amount of marijuana”.

The Travis County medical examiner will perform an autopsy and determine the cause and method of death.
