Austin Police have identified a 26-year-old man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 35 in South Austin.
Police said it happened around 11:53 p.m. In Block 8400 of I-35 South.
Police said preliminary results showed that the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling north on the highway when the left front of the car collided with the right-rear of an 18-wheeled wagon.
The 18-wheeler was heading north in the center lane, when slowed down by construction. Police reported that the driver of the 18-wheeled truck was about to stop when he said he felt something hit him.
The news agency said the Mercury driver, known as Paul Herrera, 26, died at the scene.
This is still an open investigation.
