Kotnay County Sheriff said a woman was shot dead by mistake at a Walmart store in northern Idaho when her two-year-old boy pulled a gun from her bag and shot her.
In a written statement, Ben Wolfinger added that the 29-year-old was shopping at Walmart in Hayden, Idaho, and was putting her baby in the shopping cart when the accident occurred.
Police officials said investigators were still inspecting the site of the shooting, which occurred shortly after 10 a.m. in the electronics department of the store. The authorities did not reveal the woman’s name.
“There was a very sad incident at our store today in Hayden where a customer was killed. We are working with Kotnay police who are investigating the circumstances of what happened,” Walmart spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said.
