Police shot the man suspected of shooting Saint Paul police officers after an encounter in a parking lot in Saint Cloud, according to Saint Cloud Police.
Saint Cloud Police were assisting the Saint Paul Police Department and the ATF in finding the suspect who had a shootout with the police on Monday at Building 900 of Algonquin Street in Saint Paul. Investigators also believe the suspect was linked to a car theft in St. Paul later that night.
Shortly before 6 p.m., authorities found the suspect in a car in a parking lot in Building 2200 on Division Street West in Saint Cloud. According to the police, the authorities stopped the man’s car in an armored vehicle and attempted to arrest him.
Police say that when the man got out of the car with a pistol, several officers from different devices fired their weapons. The officers tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.
A woman who was in the car at the time of the shooting was not seriously injured during the accident. She is treated at Saint Cloud Hospital. None of the officers were injured.
The case is under investigation by the criminal arrest office.
