Authorities in Polk County, Wisconsin say a 77-year-old man was able to fight a violent intruder with a rifle.
The Polk County sheriff’s office said that around 6 p.m., the 77-year-old was at his home in Clear Lake Countryside when a 32-year-old man attacked him believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
The victim was able to defend himself with a rifle, firing a single bullet, without hitting the suspect. The suspect ran away from the house, but was quickly located and detained by the police without incident.
The victim was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where his condition was stable.
