Two were arrested on suspicion of their links to the kidnapping and rape of a nine-year-old girl in rural France.
Police said that the two men were driving a stolen car when they were arrested in the village of Saumur.
And that one of the men raped a girl and a woman aged 73, according to what was reported in the local media. Local police are currently carrying out DNA tests.
The child was kidnapped by a suspect driving a Citroen car while she was on her way to buy bread in “Villiers”.
According to local media, the kidnapping prompted a large search operation with the participation of military forces and local police, which were mobilized from the neighboring city of Poitiers, in addition to a helicopter designated for search operations.
The girl was found shortly after her disappearance and taken to the University Hospital of Poitiers, where she is still undergoing medical care.
As for the other rape, of the 73-year-old woman, it was believed the day before.
Speaking to reporters, the mayor of “Villiers” indicated earlier that the accused is a “man from outside” the village.
But officials have not released any information about the accused.
