The shooting killed a man on 1,200 blocks of North Penman Street, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Police said that the officers were called at approximately 1:15 in the morning to an ongoing robbery, firing shots at the site north of Beach Boulevard. They found the man in the front yard of a house with gunshot wounds. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said no further details were available as the murder investigation continued.
Drivers have been asked to avoid that section of Penman Road while the investigation continues, police said
