The state medical chief said on Wednesday that a two-month-old boy in Michigan has died of COVID-19.
According to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Johnny Khaldoun, the child is the smallest coronavirus death reported in the state and the only person under the age of one year dies from the virus.
Dr. Khaldoun said that children are able to transmit the virus to others despite their low risk of serious illnesses.
“Studies show that while children are less likely to get severe disease from COVID-19, they are still able to,” Khaldoun said on Wednesday. They can also pass it on to others including adults who are more likely to contract illness or disease from COVID-19. “
