Adding to this year’s list of unexpected things, many major retailers and other businesses remain closed for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving falls on November 26 this year, and for the first time in a long time, Black Friday will actually start on Friday.
Here is a list of businesses that have yet to open their doors, according to BlackFriday.com:
The company said in an email that the store remained closed on Thanksgiving Day to give “team members and customers time to have fun and make memories with family and friends”, and will do the same this year.

Bed bath behind
Bed Bath & Beyond is citing safety concerns due to the coronavirus for remaining closed for Thanksgiving 2020.
The company announced on August 3 that it would remain closed for the holiday and had not announced Black Friday business hours.
Best Buy announced in July that customers can shop on the app and online, but their physical sites will close on Thanksgiving. The company has not announced Black Friday business hours but has said the holiday deals will begin in early November.
Dick’s sporting goods
Dick’s Sporting Goods announced in July that it would remain closed for Thanksgiving.
Stores will maintain traditional business hours on Wednesday.
Black Friday hours have not been announced.
Customers can expect regular shopping hours on November 25, but stores will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Home Depot has historically remained closed for Thanksgiving and will do the same this year.
They say Black Friday will be online and in stores and start in early November to avoid “hectic shopping.”
Over the summer, the company announced that its stores would close on Thanksgiving Day.
“Our extraordinary partners have demonstrated their fighting spirit through their courage and unwavering commitment to serving our customers,” said JCPenney CEO Gil Soltau in a statement.
Cole cited safety concerns over the coronavirus, in part, in part because it would remain closed at Thanksgiving.
Macy’s is a Thanksgiving tradition for some people.
They were one of the stores that opened earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving. This year, the stores will remain closed.
The company says people can find the best deals on their website and app.

Sam Club is owned by Walmart Inc. Sam’s and Walmart will remain closed for Thanksgiving.
Simon Real Estate Group
The Simon Property Group announced that all of its sites will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
“This is not the year of the crowds,” the company said in a statement over the summer.
All stores will remain closed for Thanksgiving.
