An ambulance patient was killed in a collision with a National Defense Forces fire truck

An FDNY ambulance transporting a 59-year-old man suffering from a heart attack collided with an FDNY fire truck in Bedford-Stuyvesant, killing the patient, according to police.

The authorities said that the fatal collision occurred at around 1:45 am at the intersection of Throp Avenue and Myrtle Street as the fire truck was pushing towards a fire and expanded the ambulance.

The victim was accompanied by a 35-year-old woman, who was also seriously injured. She was taken to Woodhull Hospital. The man’s death was announced in the hospital.

Six firefighters and two emergency medical teams were taken to the hospital in Bellevue. One EMT suffered from back and neck pain and the other from a leg injury.
