One man was killed and another man was in serious medical condition as a result of gunfire on the eastern side of the city.
It happened around 11:30 pm, as officers were called to the Oriental Street and Marlow Avenue area. They found an adult man with multiple gunshot wounds. The death of the victim was announced at the scene. Another adult man was shot and taken to a Skinazi hospital. In his last report he was listed in serious condition as a result of being shot.
Police say there were many people in 1,400 blocks of E. Marlowe Street when they arrived, describing it as a chaotic crime scene. Their interest is a duplex in the northeast corner of the Oriental and Marlowe.
“We don’t know how many people were inside or outside, or where the original disturbances started,” said Major Harold Turner, an IMPD spokesperson. “We have a lot of detained individuals … It is believed that this is a targeted incident between two groups of individuals.”
Investigators believe that there is no constant danger to the public.
