The shooting erupted around 10 pm. It’s on South 8th Street, near Margaret Street, south of the San Jose State University campus.
A police spokesman said that authorities had received a phone call about a person who had been shot at that location, but when the officers arrived at the scene, they found five people who had been shot.
Two victims were announced dead at the scene, Sgt. Christian Camarillo said. The other three victims were taken to local hospitals. Their circumstances were unknown.
The police did not make any arrests. Authorities said there was no suspected prescription at this time.
Chris Grechot lives nearby and has heard some gunfire.
“I heard five shots and then heard a screaming,” Greshot said. He returned home and asked the wife to close the doors.
