A barge struck the Three Mile Bridge as Hurricane Sally continues to approach the Gulf Coast, according to Gulf Breeze City.
The authorities closed the bridge shortly before 9 am.
“The bridge is closed until the end of the hurricane and storms,” said the city of Gulf Naseem in a post on Facebook.
FDOT sends out a team to assess the damage.
Senator Doug Brooksson said it was one of the contractor barges that hit the bridge.
The Garcon Point Bridge is now closed due to weather conditions, according to the Santa Rosa County Emergency Department. They will announce when it will be reopened.
